Glitch's History

"Glitch. You are amazing. Not only do you initially survive a 22% probability of even being born, but then you survive an attack from the things that should have killed you in a heartbeat. Your anatomy is amazing, the way you can digest both blood and food for nutrition. I'd take a long shot and call you a miracle...or a cheat of creation" - James Driver, one of Glitch's contacts in Carmen

Her history is more of the story of what happened in her early years and before she was born. Obviously at only about 22 years old and definitely not looking it the history of Glitch appears normal or at least up until everything went wrong.

Her mother was a country club owner before Glitch was born in 1981, a tragedy on it's own with the relationship that turned into rape and then death which I will cover later. The country club was moderately successful, situated just outside the city limits of Carmen. Popular amongst the rich fat businessmen that are becoming common, as the world gets older and humanity becomes more corrupt.

Glitch's father is a saga in itself. A less than a century old 15th generation Gangrel Antitribu. Eventually met Glitch's mother when his pack moved into the area surrounding the country club just before Carmen city became abandoned by both Camarilla and Sabbat. In secret, this Gangrel became infatuated with the nature-lover that Glitch's mother was. It seemed a perfect romance. That was until Glitch's mother found out what he was and pushed him away. He got angry and ended up raping the woman who surprisingly grew with child- Glitch herself.

Eventually the Sabbat found out, their fundamental view on the position of mortals in the grand scheme of things soon raised questioning eyebrows in the Gangrel's direction. Throughout her mothers pregnancy she had to hide, run, hide again and hope for a miracle. It wasn't until Glitch was born that her mother realised what it was she'd raised inside her. A Vampyle, half childe of Caine and half mortal. Even so, Glitch was effectively shielded from the so-called 'all seeing eyes of the Sabbat'. It was lucky but Glitch survived infanthood, which was lucky enough with the 22% survival chance of infanthood for those like her, even if her mother became increasingly ill from the moment of birth.

But the Sabbat had other things to focus on, like the humanity of Glitch's father. Having a romance with a mortal was an outrage. Having sex with a mortal raised even more questions. Eventually through various spy-missions commencing from when Glitch was about a year old and right the way through most of Glitch's life, they discovered that Glitch was a healthy vampyle-infant and had succeeded against the odds in living a relatively 'normal' life.

Her mother hid from young Glitch the truth of what she is; this was not a hard thing to do for a child of that age. School blocked most of it out, even if Glitch herself would grudgingly love the smell of spilled blood on the playground whenever anyone fell and scraped their knee. But she never told anyone. Sometimes she'd find herself staring at the said scrapes and imagining the taste...occasionally this would make her flip, something the teachers brushed off as being a tantrum and for which she was just sat on her own, which removed the problem of the blood-hunger inside her. Swelling as she got older.

It was high school, however, that was a major problem for Glitch. At 14 the monthly loss of blood started to soon make her head feel lighter than usual, she was alot more provokable and unpredictable. At 15 she turned into a rebel, neglecting schoolwork as she deemed it useless in real life. First it was her schoolwork, but then her mother started getting ill again. Her mom's immune system had been weakening for 15 years since Glitch's birth and it had ended up giving her the immune system of that equal to an 80 or 90-year-old woman. Fragile all the time. Glitch's worry for her mum increased. She knew of no immediate family simply because she had been hidden from them on the grounds of being vampyle.

Then, one fateful night when Glitch was about 15, disaster struck. After a night of tossing and turning in bed, Glitch awoke to hear noises outside. Peering out of the window her eyes were quickly lightened to the fire that was their family car. A group of people jumping around it, they turned and headed straight for their front of their house. It might have been a dream until now, until Glitch heard the bang as the door snapped open and collapsed. Until she heard the smash of windows and the trampling of feet. Lucky for her her room in this small house was an attic room and it would take them a while to find her up here. Her heart started to race as she heard her mom screaming for mercy from these things until she heard the cracks and flesh-cutting noises. Then she knew she was alone. They'd likely search the house a few times before finding her, or at least she hoped. No such luck, a beating almost-mortal alive in a house of Sabbat. They found the hidden staircase and raced up it, pinning Glitch back into the windowledge. If they had not had her by the throat she would have been dead, should have been dead. But Glitch's hand found the latch on the window and she crashed backwards through it, tumbling the one who grabbed her down onto the street below. She hit the ledge just below her window and started running along ledges of other people's houses. Eventually hitting street level and running for her life. Fortunately the police sirens seem to have allowed her to lose her hunters but she knew she could never go home. She headed for the city in the dead of night, battered bruised and bleeding.

It was to this bleeding that she realised what she was, just a few blocks out of the city the hunger that had been swelling inside her started to pound as she looked over one of the wounds she was bleeding from. It made her feel dazed but it soon got her way, there was a smell of blood in the air from maybe just a slight cut and Glitch rode the blood-frenzy. Killing a mortal who had stumbled and cut herself on some glass as if she too were a monster. Glitch's tears sprung up as she stepped back, blood dripping from her mouth. She swallowed and then ran in fear.

The last few years from when Glitch was 15 til now when she is 22 were spent trying to make a living. Squatting in the Phoenix hotel she needed to scavenge for food, selling herself on the street for the little money she needed for a sleeping bag and a few bits and bobs. Every time she got clean she'd be dirty within a few hours, the dirt just clings to her as a squatter in a now-being reconstructed hotel. Grabbing food where she can, sleep when she needs it, and occasionally nicking weapons that people leave lying around for just a second too long. But there were a few advantages with being the only resident in the Hotel. Her allies and contacts within Carmen city always handed her food and shelter when she needed it, for example in the frosty winter. She knows she has every right to have the Hotel to herself because of the amount she's lived there; she can't leave for fear of the Sabbat picking up her scent.
